These are a few of my favourite things...
Avery Mensch and Vishnu Bachani's research
- Guide to Finding Articles/Books includes comprehensive instructions on how to use Sci-Hub, Library Genesis, WorldCat, Google Scholar, Internet Archive, Z-Library, Memory of the World, The Eye (eBook database), The Philosophical Underclass (Facebook group for free philosophy-related material), and reddit.com/r/Scholar. You can also join the private Facebook group, Ask for PDFs from people with institutional access.
- This Information Sharing database, which includes sites for books and articles, directions on how to use sci-hub, how to convert PDFs, how to remove DRM on Internet Archive, and how to batch download pdf chapters and combine them into one file.
- This Airtable on where to look for articles, books, repositories.
Other resources
- PDF Drive hosts free book PDFs and epubs. You don't need an account to start downloading.
- 12 ways to get past a paywall: Instructions on how to use free extensions and tools, resetting browser cookies, etc. I find that interrupting the page download usually works. You can also try iamadamdev's GitHub extension. To copy+paste from a website that doesn't allow it, try Chrome → Site Settings → JavaScript → Block.
Textbooks for college
I do not own these textbooks and do not solely collate them here. They are various students' existing PDFs, existing here for easy access.
